Postponed from March 2020, the “Great Musical Families” concert is coming back to Master Players with the Berofsky Piano Quartet. Aaron Berofsky and Kathryn Votapek, former longtime members of the legendary Chester String Quartet, are joined by their award-winning sons, pianist and composer Charles and cellist Sebastian.
The Chester String Quartet, acclaimed as “one of the country’s best young string quartets” by the Boston Globe, has toured worldwide and has participated in numerous commissions and recordings as the former resident quartet at the University of Michigan and at Indiana University South Bend. Aaron and Kathryn are currently on the string faculty at the University of Michigan and the Chautauqua Institution. Kathryn, whose father Ralph was the gold medalist of the first Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, also comes from a large family of accomplished musicians.
The family members will perform music by Mozart, Chopin, Dvořák and Schubert.
